Calling All AWHONN Friends and Friends of Friends!
A letter from Sue Walden, RN, BSN
You are going to LOVE the great topics and speakers planned for the 2017 Oregon AWHONN Fall Conference in Bend, Sept 27-29! All of us on the planning committee are excited to see familiar faces and, hopefully, many new faces. We want to share the great work that our colleagues have done and are doing now to improve outcomes for women and babies.
We want to especially reach out to our newest nurses in the OB & Newborn specialties. You know, the nurses you have trained over the past few years. The ones who will be our leaders, advocates and clinical experts over the next several years. We need to wrap our arms around them and give them all the tools at our disposal. Our mentoring job is not done. Encourage them to join our great professional organization so they have access to all the resources, journals, classes and conferences that we enjoy (and learn from) so much. Bring them to the conference!
As the conference title insinuates, we are challenged to stay afloat in what seems like the daily changes in our Maternal & Newborn world. Safe sleep, EMR, QBL, substance abuse, vaccines, patient experience, team building, operating room protocol, water birth, nitrous oxide, diabetic ketoacidosis, massive transfusion… What’s new in your world this week? We could go on & on, couldn’t we?
As leaders, which each of you are in one way or another, you set the tone for learning & growing in our specialty. We want this year’s conference to inspire and motivate you. To arm you with new knowledge, new leadership skills and new awareness of the incredible role you play in the life experiences of the women we serve in our communities. Come on, join us! You and your friends can register at oregonawhonn.org/registration. Check us out on Facebook too at http://www.facebook.com/groups/AWHONNOregonSection.
See you there!
